Work in Progress
For my birthday, my friend Adam sent me (among other things) some Hot Wheels cars. I’m not a car guy, so I wasn’t sure what to make of them at first. I mean, I take the train everywhere! But those little cars sparked something and have created a fundamental shift in me and my toy shopping habits.
The last time I bought a toy vehicle of any kind was the little space shuttle I used in “Hello, Space Ladies“, and before that it was… I honestly don’t know. But now, here I am, 32 years old, in the toy aisle at Target, looking at Hot Wheels cars BECAUSE! “I bet I could repaint one and make it look cool.”
I found this, the Baja Bone Shaker.
It was like a chorus of angels. “I bet I could repaint this and make it look cool.” So I set to work, drilling out the pegs, separating the body parts, and painting them all individually before reassembly, then I weathered it with pigment powder for the mud and dust. I’ll be honest, it isn’t the greatest repaint out there. No awards will be won, no prizes or accolades, but I love it. I’m still undecided about painting the lights (Adam says I should), but we’ll see.

So I can open up my eyes and finally see
Is there any better use of a dollar? I don’t think so.
AWESOME repaint!
Thank you for the motivation in the first place!
