Over the weekend, the thing I’ve been fearing for a long time finally happened: part of my camera broke. The spring assembly that raises and lowers the sub-mirror snapped and now the autofocus doesn’t work. Not only that, but occasionally there will be a large dark spot on the images where the mirror is out of alignment. I can still get by with manually focusing, but it takes a few tries to get the mirror lined up. To be fair, this camera has been an absolute juggernaut since I bought it back in the mists of 2007 and a broken mirror spring is honestly the worst to have happened (and I have not been gentle with it).
TOTALLY UNRELATED: I am considering a mirrorless camera for my next big purchase.
Be good,

so we’re just gonna make the mess
